As a leading and global provider of Wimbledon Debenture Tickets, Sporting Agenda is delighted to sponsor Hungerford Tennis Club. The Club demonstrate that they are an enthusiastic and friendly organisation with a committee focused on continuing its success and bringing the benefits of playing the sport to as many young people and families as possible for generations to come.
Although they are a friendly bunch, they do not lose sight of the tennis season, producing teams for the summer leagues. They host a Men’s A, B and C team (the C team especially looking to provide youngsters with match play experience), a Mixed and a Ladies team (who achieved promotion this year).

- Why did you pick your sport?

James Kilpatrick, Hungerford Tennis Club member and LTA Level 3, Hungerford Tennis Club Coach says: I chose tennis as my sport when I was 11 due to grieving. I found that tennis was my way of coping at that time in my life. The sport is so complex to play, that it keeps the brain focused. I will be forever thankful for this sport.

- What motivates you to get better?

As a tennis coach my motivation is to find the best possible way to help each player learn the sport. I like to keep improving my knowledge in the sport through courses, books and learning through experiences on the tennis court. Seeing people enjoying the game of tennis motivates me to be the best coach I can.

- Biggest success so far

My biggest sporting success as a coach would be landing the agreement to provide coaching opportunities for the local community at Hungerford Tennis Club. One of my favourite successes so far is providing monthly coaching for Mencap. Mencap is a UK charity that supports people with learning difficulties. Hungerford Tennis Club kindly fund these sessions for Mencap.

- Sporting Hero?

Andy Murray for his determination to not give up on the sport when he had his major hip operation. To still compete at a high level after that was amazing.

- Best sporting event you have watched on TV or live

This has to be seeing Andy Murray finally win his first Wimbledon on tv. All the hard work he put in paid off and you could see how much it meant to him. What an athlete!
