Anne Marie Bork Eppers
Dressage
With Sporting Agenda's long standing relationship with the equine world, we are delighted to sponsor the talent shown by Bork Eppers Dressage, supporting Anne Marie in the development of her competitive dressage career.
- Why did you pick your sport?
Horses captured my attention from a young age, and eventually my parents gave in and I was allowed weekly riding lessons. Horse are such fun and inspiring animals to work with, and riding was the only sport I ever seriously tried. I have participated in all the different disciplines through the years including hunting and polo, but dressage has always fascinated me the most.
- What motivates you to get better?
One of the hardest and most interesting aspects of working with horses (and people!) is the amount of variables that can influence each performance in a positive or negative direction. I really enjoy deciphering and tweaking all the variables to achieve all the marginal gains possible, so that the quality of work and horse wellbeing always improves.
- Biggest success so far
Competitively, it is winning a national championship and being placed twice at International Grand Prix, riding amongst Olympic riders. On a daily basis, it is training the horses with integrity and not taking shortcuts. It is also meeting clients and fellow riders with empathy and understanding for their situation, but also having ambitions for them.
- Sporting Hero?
Ingrid Klimke, a German Olympic event- and dressage rider, who is not only a great horsewoman but also world class in two equestrian disciplines.
- Best sporting event you have watched on TV or live
Badminton Horse Trials is the best live sporting event I have attended. Luckily it is down the road from where we live, so I go often! Every year, horse lovers from across disciplines gather on Badminton Estate in the beautiful Cotswold countryside to watch top level eventing. The skill and bravery required from both horse and rider is phenomenal to watch, and the whole week is a social shopping experience too.
My best sporting experience on TV was the Paris 2024 Olympic freestyle dressage finals. The backdrop with Versailles and the extraordinary level of quality riding gave everyone goosebumps!
