A Look Back at 2024

2024 was a year of highs and lows for me as an athlete.
My year started off strong by travelling to Denmark in February for the Copenhagen Open where I fought in -55kg category and achieved silver. I got to have my first spotlight final which was an amazing experience to be able to take part in.
A couple of weeks after this I travel to Poland for the Central Europe Open where I improved on my silver from Denmark in the previous weeks to achieve a Gold! This was a great confidence boost for me coming off the Christmas break to push forward for the rest of the year.
Sadly, I went back to training and the week after this competition I tore my hamstring during a training session which was a major setback for me. This meant I was unable to train at all or compete until August, meaning I had nearly 6 months out of training which was really difficult for me.
Once I was cleared to go back to training it was a slow start as I wasn’t able to train full out straight away. Finally I was able to get back to competing in September 2024, where I attended the British International. I felt a lot of pressure for this competition after such a long period of time off from training but I managed to push through this and win Gold in my category!
After this competition me and my team travelled to Germany to compete at the Banzai cup where we all got bronze in our respective categories which was a great achievement for our team.
After this competition I also found out I was selected to compete in the commonwealth championship at the end of November in Durban, South Africa.
This trip was such an amazing experience with the team, I was on super early in the morning but I didn’t let that bother me and managed to walk away from this competition with a Silver medal in my division!
It was a great end to the year for me, considering my injury taking out most of 2024 for me! I’m looking forward to getting the ball rolling with 2025 and hoping that I can continue the momentum into this year!
